Earn Your Leisure is one of our favorite podcasts to listen to. Hearing Black people talk about financial literacy and business in a simple way that anyone can understand is needed. For us to advance, we have to understands the systems in play, and the key players. This week they featured the Founder and CEO of United Masters and Translation, Steve Stoute. Steve Stoute has been in the music and advertising industry for over 20 years and has worked with several artists and brands pushing the culture forward positively and tastefully. Translation is an agency built within United Masters. This gives artists with United Masters easy access to brands

"I was going to translate culture for Fortune 500 companies"

Translation was involved in the Nets moving from New Jersey to New York. They worked on designs, color schemes, logos and slogans.

“If music is going to be the loss leader, which it has become, your goal is to use the music to gain attention. Then, sell higher margin items... in order to really cash out. One of those higher margin items is shows. Other higher margin items are merch.”

“The blockchain is gonna do for ownership, exactly what the internet did for access.”

“You have to have an irrational belief in yourself and irrational persistence.”

“You can't take on something that you can't do your best. I don't want to start taking on things that I cant do my best at just because I want to take the big. It's not worth risking your reputation for that. Life is a marathon, you can't keep running sprints. You'll mess the whole thing up.”
