Bloom : A Sculptural Celebration of African History

We always enjoy highlighting creative pursuits that seem to stand out from the crowd. When Bloom was sent to us, we knew it was a project that we had to share. It's creative, ambitious, and an opportunity to learn something new.

Sandra Githinji is a Kenyan-born, Melbourne-based interior designer. Her work has historical elements as well as a beautiful modern touch that can resonate with contemporary audiences. Bloom is a master class in how African history can meet modern design and functionality. As we know, African history isn't something that is widely known, despite it being one of the largest continents and having a history spanning thousands of years.

Bloom is essentially a collection of vases that have been sculpted to look like powerful women in Africa's rich history. The first piece of Queen Nandi. Although the average person may not have heard this name before, they certainly have heard her son's name. Shaka. Queen Nandi was born in 1760 and died in 1827. Her name means "sweet one" and she served as a close advisor to her son.

It's fitting that she is the first great woman to be highlighted by this project. Her resilient spirit and reputation as a leader and Queen in her time set a great tone for Bloom as a project and creates an excitement for anything that is coming next. This sculptural celebration of Africa history is something that we hope you all go out and support. Check it out and support it below!
