Building Our Communities

We wanted the first article we published for 2022 to be representative of the overarching theme here at Grnwood. Black excellence has several facets, but the community is the core. The community at large is the reason this site exists and we mustn't forget that. With that being said, we wanted to show our readers 5 non-profits that do good work in the community and that should be supported. Throughout the year and via our newsletter we'll continue to showcase more of these kinds of organizations. Even though sometimes it seems like no one's doing the work, several organizations are doing it but may not be getting the light they deserve. Check out the organizations building our communities below!

Every year the foundation gives a scholarship to a student in the Jersey City, Washington D.C, or Baltimore public school system. Recipients are automatically enrolled in a leadership program and are celebrated at an annual scholarship dinner. You can support Nyamwange Foundation here!

Reach One NYC

Reach One NYC was founded by Serita Morrow and is a New Yorke based nonprofit that focuses on youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and their pursuit of higher education. Reach One understands that there are hundreds of thousands of students in NYC that live below the poverty line. They have dreams of doing more but may not be in the financial position to pursue those dreams. That's where Reach One steps in and helps bridge the gap between them and their dreams.
