A Conversation With Master P and Steve Stoute

This weekend, we got a chance to watch some of the Revolt Summit and there was a lot of great information. One of the conversations was between Steve Stoute and Master P. Both have been immensely influential in moving black culture forward. Both have made tremendous impact in music, marketing, and entrepreneurship. During their conversation, we learned so much. We took some of our favorite quotes from their session and collected them for you! Check the interview out and the quotes below!

"The only way to push culture forward is the strength of numbers. The strength of people coming together around an idea, vision, values." Steve Stoute

"We're stronger together... If one doesn't have something, the other one has it. When you look at us as African Americans doing business together... we can change the world." Master P

"I built an empire because I'm not afraid to fail forward. The only way to hit a home run is to swing at the ball." Master P

"Start small and build. Be committed to what you're doing. Don't do it for money. Do it because you love it. Do it because you're passionate about it and the money will come." Master P

"The first thing I did to get into the music business was to educate myself. So that no one could ask me a basic question and I didn't know." Steve Stoute

"Ownership is a very important aspect of the evolution of us as black people." Steve Stoute

"Equity is more important than money." Master P

"Equity is important in building brands and getting things outside the music business. Because you think that it's going to last forever, but it's not going to last forever." Master P

"Everyone runs around wanting to be an entrepreneur, but don't understand the depth of that issue. Are you willing to not sleep at night? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get your idea over the finish line? Are you willing to naysayers tell you it's not going to work?" Steve Stoute

"Sometimes it seems like nothing will happen and your time isn't coming. Even when it looks dark, I have to keep going. Even when they tell me they won't let me in, I have to keep going." Master P

"You're going to have to lose sleep. You're going to have to be able to get up early in the morning." Master P

"Don't be afraid to be bold and promote your product." Master P

"There is no B plan. I never had a B plan. My B plan was to make my A plan work. Once you have a B plan, as soon as the pain gets intense, you'll go to something else." Steve Stoute

"I didn't know how I was going to do it, but I knew that if I didn't stop chasing that idea, that I was going to be successful." Steve Stoute

"You don't have to let your past stop you from getting to where you're trying to be." Master P

"Sometimes being unique and believing in yourself is what will get you to your dream." Master P

"Stop looking at the mustard seed and start looking at the tree." Master P

"Our biggest problem is that we don't own stuff, so we can’t control it. We can't control who we put in the game, because we don't own it." Master P

"A good soldier prepares for war in times of peace." Master P
