Our Favorite Brand Collaborations
Black culture has always been influential on world culture. The impact that our style, music, lingo, and overall vibe has had on the world is undeniable. For years, companies would attempt to imitate this to market and brand to audiences both here and abroad. These efforts would often fall flat, because there were often never black people in the room to facilitate the respectful representation of our culture in all its glory.
In recent years we have seen more of an effort to put more black faces in marketing campaigns, put more black-marketing people in the rooms, and treat marketing to black people with more care. These efforts aren’t without fault. We’ve seen plenty of companies completely drop the ball by releasing tasteless ad campaigns and designs. As much of an issue as that is, that’s not what this article is about. With the recent Travis Scott and McDonalds collaboration, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite brand collaborations over the years. From Virgil Abloh and Nike to Asap Rocky and Calvin Klein, we’ve seen some cool stuff.
The high frequency of collaborations like these are giving us some amazing products as well as ad campaigns. We’ll just talk about a few we’ve liked over the years. If we miss any, we’ll do a follow up post and include a few more.
